Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI)
Directed by Hillary Respass
The Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) is recognized internationally as one of the premiere summer training programs for aspiring high school-age musicians and is the only program of its kind associated with one of the world’s great symphony orchestras. Under the guidance of distinguished professionals and in the presence of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), young people devote themselves to a summer of music making—an experience that has the ability to serve as a starting point on the path to a future in classical music.
The Montgomery Symphony Orchestra partners with Tanglewood Institute every year to bring local auditions to the south in Montgomery, Alabama. In addition, the Alabama Friends of BUTI also support local students accepted to Tanglewood Institute through scholarship support.
