The Montgomery Youth Orchestra is sponsored by the Montgomery Symphony League.  With the League's guidance and financial support, the Youth Orchestra rehearses weekly to prepare two concerts each season which are offered to the public without charge.

Membership and Auditions
Each year, approximately 80 young musicians from public and private schools throughout central Alabama participate in the Montgomery Youth Orchestra.
Placement in the orchestra is by audition, which will be held in the Choir Room of Eastmont Baptist Church, 4505 Atlanta Highway, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 9:45 am. For more information, contact Montgomery Youth Orchestra Manager Dory Hector at 279-6575 or hector1400@msn.com.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held each Saturday morning throughout the school year at Eastmont Baptist Church.

Montgomery Youth Orchestra Scholarship Program
MYO members are eligible to apply for a variety of scholarship opportunities to encourage their musical talents. Funded by the Montgomery Symphony League, scholarships are available to help support participation at summer music camps and festivals, participate in private lessons and purchase needed instruments.
Applications, deadlines and other information are provided to MYO musicians at rehearsals.  Applications for the June 1 -  September 30, 2013 period are due May 1, 2013.

Maestra Yvonne Collins
Maestra Yvonne Collins is serving in her 23rd season as Conductor of the Montgomery Youth Orchestra, a project of the Montgomery Symphony League. Thanks to her dedication and inspiration, many MYO members have gone on to win statewide orchestral competitions and scholarships to our most prestigious colleges and universities.

A native of Chattanooga, Maestra Collins has been involved with youth and community orchestras for nearly 30 years. Both a violinist and pianist, she is also the MSO's Principal Second Violin.

Mrs. Collins is an active chamber musician musician and founding member of Joyeux Musique, a local string trio. She attended Tennessee Tech University, where she studied conducting with Robert Jaeger. Her professional orchestral experience as a violinist includes the Chattanooga, Albany, Auburn, and Montgomery symphonies.
