The New York Times has praised Lori Phillips as “impressive with formidable vocal power” and Opera News has said: “Soprano Lori Phillips was a terrific Brünnhilde: her voice started out in excellent form and kept getting better, her clarion upper register sending chills down one’s spine”. Performances include Brünnhilde in Die Walküre for Hawaii Opera Theatre and in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung for Seattle Opera; title role in Aida for Hawaii; Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana for Vancouver Opera, Opéra de Québec, Arizona Opera; Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer for her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2010 (which was broadcast live on Sirius Satellite Radio), and repeated for Washington National Opera, Hawaii Opera Theatre, and Syracuse Symphony; Turandot for Opera Lyra Ottawa, Portland Opera, Atlanta Opera, New York City Opera, Nashville Opera, Opera Memphis, Indianapolis Opera; Leonore in Fidelio, Portland Opera; Minnie in La Fanciulla del West, Utah Opera; Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera, Seattle Opera, Vancouver Opera, Opera Memphis; and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth in Arizona. In Europe, Miss Phillips has worked with companies in Paris, Amsterdam, Nice, and England. She has also been heard on tour in Japan, most notably, at Tokyo’s International Forum. She performs on a newly released Naxos recording of Milhaud’s L’Orestie d’Eschyle; on the Telarc recording as Ariane in Dukas’ Ariane et Barbe-Bleue with the BBC Symphony, and on a Naxos recording of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis.
