Front of House Volunteer Program

Help Create Extraordinary Experiences

Montgomery Symphony Orchestra is looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help welcome patrons and create an exceptional concert experience. Whether you’re a student looking to gain experience, a retiree who enjoys the arts, or simply someone who wants to give back to the community, we’d love to have you join our Front-of-House Volunteer Team.

Our volunteers are often the first people patrons meet when they arrive at the theater. A warm greeting, a helping hand, and a friendly smile all play an important role in making every concert memorable.

Volunteer Opportunities

Front-of-House volunteers may assist with a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Greeting patrons as they arrive

  • Scanning digital and printed tickets

  • Distributing concert programs

  • Assisting guests in finding their seats

  • Providing general information and directions

  • Supporting the box office as needed

Volunteers may request assignments based on their interests. Those serving as ticket scanners should feel comfortable using their personal smartphone for ticket scanning.

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, including:

  • College and university students

  • Retirees

  • Montgomery Music Project and Montgomery Youth Orchestra families

  • Community members who enjoy the performing arts

  • Individuals looking for volunteer service opportunities

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and attend a brief training session before their first concert.

Volunteer Benefits

As a Front-of-House volunteer, you’ll enjoy:

  • The opportunity to support Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and the arts in our community

  • Complimentary admission to the concert after volunteer responsibilities are complete (subject to seating availability)

  • Invitations to volunteer appreciation events

  • Opportunities to attend select dress rehearsals

  • Community service hours, when applicable

  • Letters of recommendation for students and volunteers upon request

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, and event operations
