Maestra Laura Walters

Maestra Laura Walters is in her first year as Conductor of the Montgomery Youth Orchestra. Both a public school teacher and a musician, she has played double bass with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra in previous seasons. A native of Dayton, Ohio, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from The University of Alabama and has taught secondary orchestra and band in Birmingham City and Montgomery Public Schools since 2013. Each year her string and band programs have participated in the Alabama Bandmasters Association and the Alabama Orchestra Association’s All District Music Performance Assessments, always receiving Superior ratings. In January 2020, her Baldwin Chamber
Orchestra performed at the Alabama Music Educators Association conference in Montgomery. Maestra Walters is currently the Orchestra Director and Assistant Band Director at Pike Road Schools.
